Applicant Qualifications 

  • Applicant must hold at least a bachelor degree or its equivalent in any field of study from an accredited university. For international degree holders, the degree must be on the Office of Civil Service Commission’s approved list.
  • Applicant must achieve a minimum score of 500 on CU-TEP ≥ 60 TOEFL ( IBT≥ 61 CBT≥173 PPB≥500) or 5.0 on IELTS. The test must be taken within two years prior to the announcement of eligible applicants
  • Applicants who have graduated from an English-medium program from a university approved by the Office of the Civil Service Commission are exempt from the English proficiency exam.
  • Applicant must provide 2 letters of recommendation from professors and/or employers who are able to evaluate applicant’s academic and/or professional performance.
  • Applicants who would like to study in Plan B (Individual Study in Labour Economics and Human Resource Management) must have at least one year of work experience or permission from the Admission Selection Committee.
  • Applicants with little or no background in Economics, Mathematics, and Statistics are required to take pre-session courses before the first semester commences. Exemptions may be granted upon providing satisfactory evidence of proficiency in these areas.
  • Applicant must be approved by the Admission Selection Committee.

BACKGROUND

The Master of Arts Programme in Labour Economics and Human Resource Management is designed for mid-career professionals who are interested in a graduate-level programme and who are likely to dedicate their career to the field of human resource management and development. The programme is structured as a multidisciplinary and an integration of academic, technical, managerial and professional training.
The programme has a close collaboration with the Labour and Management Development Center, Faculty of Economics, which provides research and extension programmes for the past 20 years. Fellows enroll in the programme will gain expertise and experience from both learning and doing the researches in the field of labour economics, industrial relations and human resource management and development.

Programme Objectives

The M.A. Programme in Labour Economics and Human Resource Management is a full-time one-year programme which conducted in 3 trimesters with four months each.
To provide knowledge for human resource professionals in the field of research and operation in labourand human resource management.
To raise the quality and productivity of workforce through better planning and continuous development

Programme Components

The M.A. Programme in Labour Economics and Human Resource Management is a full-time one- year Programme which conducted trimesters of four months each.
One course is offered each month, an arrangement to suit the schedules of selected visiting professors. The last week of each month is reserved for examinations.
Full-time attendance, evening classes on weekdays and weekend is required for all students.

Programme Components

The students are exposed to conventional lectures while a strong emphasis is placed on working closely with professors and specialists from various nations to undertake independent research. The learning process is supplemented throughout the program by seminars and conferences. Our graduates are thoroughly prepared through a unique and comprehensive approach which combines technical training and sound methodologies of analysis. Graduates will therefore gain a profound understanding of economic, political and legal forces that make up international economies. The M.A. in International Economics and Finance is conceived for serious graduates who are determined to succeed in the global workplace.

PLAN A : THESIS OPTION

Students who choose the thesis option must successfully defend their thesis proposals before the Academic Committee, within a maximum of two academic years starting from the day of enrollment. The students must complete and defend their thesis before the Academic Committee within a maximum of four academic years.

PLAN B : NON-THESIS OPTION

Students who choose the non-thesis must pass the comprehensive examination within a maximum of two academic years starting from the day of enrollment.

*Remarks:

  • Fees are subject to change in accordance with the University Announcement.
  • Students pay the overseas/domestic field-trip fees on the first day of the semester. If the actual expense exceeds 35,000 baht, students pay the differences during the second semester. Please note that the fees are non-refundable.

Regular Students

All students who fulfill the requirements for the M.A. Programme are classified as Regular students. Students who fail to maintain a GPAX of 3.00 will be placed on probation for the following semester. Students must have a minimum GPAX of 3.00 in order to be conferred the M.A. degree.

Discretionary Status Students

A student can be accepted to the M.A. Programme under a special Discretionary Status if he/she has graduated from a discipline other than Economics with a GPAX of between 2.75 and 3.25, or if he/she has graduated from a Faculty of Economics with a relatively low GPAX. To continue in the Programme, Discretionary Status students must attain a GPAX of 3.00 or higher for the first semester, at which point they are reclassified as Regular students.
