Doctor of Philosophy Program in Economics (International Program)
Our Ph.D. program is an international program and has been established for several years. With our reputation, our graduate students are highly qualified and are able to acquire jobs in several areas including as instructors at prestigious universities, private sectors and international organizations. The program is a taught-course with the first year of courses in advanced economic theories. Upon the completion of the qualified examination, students continue to write their theses in the field of their interests. Our teaching staffs include both Thai and foreign faculty members as well as visiting scholars from Thai public and private sectors and foreign visiting professors.
Currently, our faculty to student ratio is well-situated at the international level. Most importantly, the faculty members are very actively in their research publications.
Financially, Students also have chance to get financial supports, or even full financial supports including tuition fees and monthly allowance for the case of high academic performance. Students are also eligible to get financial support for participating in international seminar.
- The Ph.D. Program is a full-time program (Study in office hours Monday to Friday)
- The students must register for all three semesters during the academic year. There are five compulsory courses during the first year total credit 15 credits and students must getting grade no less than 3 points average out of the 4-point system.
- The students are required to pass qualifying examination within the 6th semester upon their entrance to the program.
- The students will also need to register for the dissertation course total credit 36 credits.
- The total number of credits for the completion of the program is 51 credits.
- From the second year onward, the students will concentrate on their research. Publication and presentations in international conference are mandatory to graduate from the program.
- The final dissertation examination must be completed within 6 years upon their entrance to the program.

– 2952701 Advanced Microeconomic Theory II (ADV MICRO THEO II)
General equilibrium theory, welfare economics, externalities, public goods, economics of information, game theory consisting of normal-form and extensive-form games, repeated game, imperfect information game, signaling game and bargaining game, and topics in mechanism design: moral hazard and principal-agent problems; use of advanced mathematical models; development of new knowledge in microeconomic theory.
– 2952702 Advanced Macroeconomic Theory II (ADV MACRO THEO II)
Dynamic general equilibrium models; Macroeconomic implications of imperfections in good markets, labor markets, credit and financial markets; New Keynesian model for monetary and fiscal policy analysis; current issues in international macroeconomics; endogenous growth model.
– 2952704 Seminar in Economics (SEM ECON)
Analysis of and discussion on topics related to microeconomics theory, macroeconomics theory, and quantitative economics.
– 2952705 Advanced Mathematics for Economists (ADV MATH FOR ECON)
Fundamental mathematical theories and tools for economists; including linear algebra, calculus, real analysis, constrained maximization, dynamic programing, optimal control theory, stochastic process and random variables.
– 2952706 Advanced Econometrics (ADV ECONO)
Econometric theories and their applications to economic models: estimation, analysis, and problem solving associated with econometrics, including the estimation of the values of linear and non-linear regression models, simultaneous-equation system, simulation models; analysis, formulation and estimation of time-series models, cross-sectional models and panel data model; an in-depth study focusing on the development of new knowledge in both theories and applications; study of data science for analyzing economic model.
